Murphy the cat
During this holiday season there have been many families that have lost their homes from foreclosure. Not only have they lost their homes but they had to give up their pets as well. The pet living without a home is growing in population and need both in finding a new home and helping in donations to keep these animals alive and well. Many organizations such as humane societies are bombarded with so many animals that some are not able to take in anymore until some more are adopted out.
Bucho the dog
Some humane societies such as the Dallas humane society at dognkittycity.org have done so much to help the homeless animals that they run close to running short on money to continue to stay open. They will take donations if we all just help lend a hand.

On the latest addition of Double Shot at Love, the Ikki twins make more eliminations. There were more females eliminated this week than last week. One guy that was let go scared the twins as he showed his obsessive side and made all of the competitors nervous when he re-entered the room. He touched Rikki’s shoulder and she became extremely nervous. She was nervous over the guy touching her shoulder? Uh, ok. She was worried he was going to do something drastic since he proffessed his love for her and said he thought they had “something”.
Anyway, the Ikki twins eliminated two girls or should I say a girl that dresses like a guy and a real girl. The man girl punched a hole in the sign outside the doors as she yelled out in anger. All of the competitors were crying and putting on the face of fear and shock. They were so worried that someone was going to come back in and start punching. The funny thing is the man girl was tougher than the guy that was eliminated. Their excuses for why they acted the way they did was because they had true feelings for the Ikki twins while other competitors didn’t. Oh well

The girls from the reality show Rock of Love have moved on to another reality show entitled Charm School. Yes, the show is back again to try to get these girls to be appropriate and decent instead of skanky and half dressed. Not all of the girls are on the show but most of the ones that have made a name for themselves or the ones that are most popular from the series.
Tonight Vh1 aired its premiere episode with plenty of alcohol and attitude. The first one sent home was Courtney who got so wasted on the first episode of rock of love second season that she couldn’t even show up for the elimination process and was sent home anyway. Same thing happened here. Sharon Osbourne is the host of the show and decided that the girl needs more help than she could offer and sent her packing. Another girl who I don’t recall from Rock of Love decided to leave since she felt she was too good for the show and that all the girls are simply not in her league. Good riddens!
Vh1 came up with a great idea with Charm School and it was only a matter of time after the first season with the Flavor of love girls to get another group of very loose girls that don’t seem to have their priorities straight onto another reality show. This season is bound to be interesting. There has already been a fight, someone falling down drunk, another admitted drunkard, a highly sexual skank that has extremely poor english but makes sure everyone knows she is ready to have sex, and manipulation already being played out to cause more fights. Great stuff that keeps us busy with mindless entertainment. Everyone is basically fighting for air time and wants to be known across the country.
Whoever is left standing at the end of the season will be rewarded $100,000. One of these girls are probably going to end up with their own reality show as well. My guess is that Vh1 will come up with a show for Megan and her dog and bff Brandi C at some point since they can’t seem to stop showing up everywhere. Megan even admitted on tonights show that she can’t see herself working and wants to be a trophy wife to a rich man. She would actually be happy with that too.
I look forward to seeing the next episode as there is supposed to be more fighting and of course more manipulation.

At one point I owned 25 cats and three dogs. And yes, I had them at the same time. Of course there wasn’t much room for the animals since I lived in an apartment. The apt. didn’t know I had all of these animals otherwise I would have been kicked out. Well, that was more than 10 years ago. I do miss my pets, but I wasn’t able to take care of them properly anymore.
I miss all of them to say the least. My brother in law couldn’t believe I knew all of their names and could tell the difference between some. Yes, I was to tell them apart. I ended up being kicked out of my apartment since they didn find out. My pets were the absolute best and I know that they would have no problem finding a home if people were willing to adopt and get to know them.
I ended up with so many cats since I worked in a kennel. A lady came to me and offered me two persians with the agreement that I would give her 5 kittens. Like a dummy I agreed. In the meantime I had a person come to me and ask me to take his tabby female cat who wasn’t spayed since he would have to put her to sleep if I didn’t. Of course I did. Then before I knew it the male persian mated with both females. I had kittens everywhere. They were so cute! I tried to find homes for some while others I ended up keeping. I shared them with a friend who wanted to keep them all together. Bad idea.
Before I could get any of them “fixed” I ended up with about 15 cats. Craziness at its best. I think back on it now and realize how stupid I was. I didn’t realize that a cat could get pregnant every four months. She would deliver after two months and get pregnant again to only deliver another litter two months later.
We tried moving quickly in getting the females spayed and some of the males neutered but it wasn’t fast enough. Then I took all of the cats and my three dogs that I adopted from a kennel i worked in to an apartment. My friend became abusive to the animals and I felt I could handle of these pets. I was able to for one year and then everything went down from there. I miss them very much and I can’t help but think of them daily even though it has been more than 10 years.

With the temperatures rising higher than it has in years in most states you must make sure you keep your pets out of the backyards and cars. Leaving your pet in a car during the day could kill them even if the windows are open. Be sure to leave the car on with the a/c on or don’t bring your pets with you when you run errands. Even though your pet may be looking at you to take them with you, resist their adoring eyes. They need to remain safe in their homes.
If you have a dog out in the backyard then figure out a way that they can stay out of the direct sunlight. Give them shade with large patio umbrellas. They will definitely lie underneath it. Bring them inside the home if possible or the garage. Anything is better than leaving out in the excruciating hot sun. No human can bare the sun beating down their heads without suffering a heat stroke then don’t think that an animal can’t suffer the same if not worse.
With temperatures reaching 110 this summer you must think about your pets and do the best thing for them. Tie them up in the house if you don’t want them all over your rug or furniture. The point is they will be inside where there is air and not extremely hot temperatures. Just think about it.

If you ever had a cat as a pet then you know what it is like to have to deal with keeping the animal from scratching the living daylights out of your furniture. It seems no matter how hard you tried by telling him/her no or yelling the cat never listens. You find you are throwing a perfectly good couch away since it got so many scratchings on the arms and sides. What can a person do to stop the cat from scratching the furniture?
First thing is to cover the ends of the furniture. You can cover it with plastic since cats don’t like to need into plastics. You must realize why the cat is doing this too. The pet has the want to mark its territory and this is one way to do so. The other way to mark is to spray (if the cat is male), but hopefully your pet is neutered. The cat also feels the need to sharpen its claws.
You can also buy two things for the cat to scratch all they want on. One is a scratching post and the other is a corrugated cardboard. Both of these items they can scratch all they want since this is what they are made fore. Keep them close to the furniture so that they will feel just as comfortable using them as if they were using your couch or chair.
Sometimes spray bottles with water can be used. This may scare your cat more of water rather than of scratching the furniture however. It doesn’t seem to be too effective to me but many people try using it.
Spray deterrents is usually sprayed directly on the furniture or anywhere else you don’t want the cat to scratch. This odor is to stop them from scratching or needing. I don’t know how bad they may smell or if they have a smell. I never had to use them since my cats used the scratching posts.
The next thing I would do if the cat is simply not falling for any of these tricks then you may have to get them declawed. This will need to be done by the veterinarian. Front claws will be removed with this procedure. This can be painful for the cat at first but eventually they will get used to it. They must also be inside cats only otherwise they will need their claws if they also go outside. I recommend to never declaw the back feet since that can remain painful for the cat. It is harder to remove than the front and completely not necessary since they hardly ever use them.

Cats typically appear to be well groomed and have beautifully fine hair. These cats are typically house cats or outside cats that have an owner. Stray cats tend to have the most problems with losing hair or spots of baldness. These can be caused by several reasons which can include their age, stress, diet, fleas, or a disease.
When a house cat begins to lose their hair it may be a problem with fleas or ringworm. Persian cats typically have the biggest problems with ringworm. Especially if you got them from a breeder then you must take the Persian cat to a veterinarian and have them analyzed for ringworm. Humans can also catch this from their cat and will begin to have itchy spots that are in a shape of a circle. The best treatment for humans is Blue Star. Cats will need to have medication applied directly to the spots told by the veterinarian.
If there is a flea problem you will know this immediately by brushing through their hair as well as noticing them throughout the house. There are various ways of taking care of these pests. One way to take care of the fleas is to bathe the cat almost on a daily basis. Since most cats hate to be bathed then try to focus on flea killers such as powders or monthly applicants given by your veterinarian. There are flea collars that exist but they don’t do much good. Fleas basically jump everywhere on the animals body accept the neck.
If you know for a fact that your cat doesn’t have fleas or ringworm, but he/she is still suffering from hair loss then it could be their diet or stress. These two reasons would require more analyzing. If there have been changes in your household such as moving, a divorce, children going off to college, or you have been away on a long vacation can all lead to hair loss caused by stress. If you know for a fact that your cat hasn’t suffered any stress issues then the diet may be the cause of your cat losing hair. This is because they are not getting the right nutrients that their body needs. Ask your veterinarian what you should be feeding your cat so you can be sure that they get the right food.
Age can also be a factor. If your cat is hitting 10 years or older then chances are their skin and hairs are just reacting to old age. You can comb their hair and bathe with a moisturizer for their skin to help keep moisture to their skin. These two things can help prolong any further process of hair loss when you have a cat that is old.

I have a friend who adores all animals. She even adores snakes. This is one creature I could never get used to, however, I don’t believe in harming them unless it is in defense. My friend had a pet corn snake. She would let it out of its tank and allow him to slither around her body but mostly her neck and arms. Snakes are typically wild, but many can do well when they are raised by a human. Never try to capture a snake and take it home to have as a pet. It can never work. You will only depress the reptile along with stressing it and possibly accidentally killing it. They are also prone to diseases. Be careful when choosing a snake as a pet.
There are particular snakes that do best in captivity. The Corn Snakes, King Snakes, and the Ball Python are the best choices for having a snake as a pet especially if it is your first time having one. Snakes do not eat vegetation. One thing you will have to get used to is giving mice or rats to them as a meal. The rodent should be dead already; however, a select few will not be as quick to eat the rodent if it is not alive. It could be the warmth of the potential food or the thrill of the hunt that makes the snake more intrigued to eat. They should be raised eating dead mice and as they get bigger they can eat rats. First of all, it is the most humane way to give the food and it will also protect the pet snake from any potential injuries it may get in order to kill the rodent. You should realize that the rodents used for food purposes only are usually wild and not hand-raised which means they could be rather vicious. Especially if they get out of the tank somehow it will become a big mess and everyone loses. To be on the safe side simply give the pet snake a mouse or rat that is frozen.
The Corn, King, and Ball Python’s are the easiest to take care of since they require the basics and will not get too big where you find yourself buying a bigger tank each couple of months. The largest these snakes will get is between 4 and 5 feet long. The Corn and King Snakes can live up to 20 years while the Ball Python can live up to 40 years. Therefore, be sure you want the snake as a pet. They will get used to you. My friend managed to keep the snake happy with plenty of attention and the right foods and right sized tank. The snake had plenty of heat and room to move around.
Snakes that will be harder to take care of are the Boa Constrictor, Burmese Python, Water snakes and any Boa’s and Python’s that live in trees. These are the hardest to take care of since they require more attention and larger food. They can get as big as 20 feet which means they may have to eat rabbits as well as rodents. Their area of living will have to increase to larger and larger tanks. They also have more potential to attack as opposed to the smaller snakes. Any snake chosen as a pet needs to have an owner that knows and understands its needs.
