Lost Boys Comes to DVD

I watched Lost Boys 2 last night. The actual name of it is Lost Boys: The Tribe. The original Lost Boys came out in 1987 with mild success. It is actually one of my favorite vampire movies. The sequel, however, is not as good. It was released directly to dvd. This is kind of a smart move since fans of the original are the ages that usually rent before going out to the movie theatre. However, they could have been able to introduce the Lost Boys to a new generation that goes more often to theatres.
The sequel stars a 27-year-old newcomer Tad Hilgenbrink who portrays a former surfer who decides to take his sister to live with their aunt. In the course of them trying to get used to their new living conditions, they meet up with a group of guys who are vampires. Of course the head vampire thinks the sister is hot and tricks her into drinking his blood. In order to save her Hilgenbrink has to kill the head vampire and by doing so he drinks the head vampires blood as well. He knows he won’t die either as long as the vampire is killed.
P.J. Pesce directs this film and also has a small part as one of the vampires. The direction kept you interested in the film and offers those that want to see more blood the opportunity to do so. I kind of fast forwarded those scenes. The story was well told and managed to wonder what was going to happen next. It also managed to keep some of the dark humor that the original had.
I would recommend this film to fans of vampire films. It isn’t a waste of time. Oh yeah, Corey Felman takes on a supporting role as a vampire killer. He was in the original film as one of the boys fighting off the vampires. He kept referring to how he knows how it feels to lose a loved one. His voice was very weird in this film. He has appeared in interviews and didn’t sound so odd so I believe he thought it would be more effective if he deepened his voice like a frogg. He sounded very corny.
